# L'ancien président du Ghana Jerry Rawlings est mort

L'ancien chef de l'État du Ghana, Jerry Rawlings, est décédé jeudi à Accra, annonce la presse nationale. Il s'est éteint à l'âge de 73 ans, une semaine après son admission dans un hôpital de la capitale.  
  
L'ancien officier de l'armée de l'air a exercé le pouvoir du 31 décembre 1981 au 7 janvier 2001.  
  
En mai 1979, Jerry Rawlings a participé à un coup d'État militaire avorté. Il tentera un nouveau putsch quelques mois plus tard avant de remettre le pouvoir aux civils. C'est à l'issue d'un troisième coup d'État qu'il va s'imposer à la tête du pays.
