Casimir Bétel avait remporté son premier combat face à un athlète rwandais, peu après son arrivée au Rwanda pour prendre part au championnat.  
  
L'athlète tchadien n'a pas démérité en défendant son titre face au vice-champion du monde, champion d'Afrique 2021 et vice-champion olympique aux jeux olympiques de Tokyo 2020.
