Ex-membre du Conseil militaire de transition (CMT), le général Mahamat Ismaïl Chaïbo a occupé d'importants postes de responsabilité au sein de l'appareil sécuritaire sous le maréchal Idriss Deby Itno. Il a été notamment directeur général de l'Agence nationale de sécurité (ANS).
