An International Call for Peace: Renowned South Korean Peace Activist to Speak in Cape Town

Alwihda Info | Par - 5 Décembre 2012

Cape Town, South Africa—Man Lee, Chairman of South Korea’s largest nonprofit organization Mannam Volunteer Association, will speak in Cape Town, South Africa on December 15 in regards to his work with international leaders in Europe, Asia, America and Africa for peace in their nations.. The Peace Conference is a part of Chairman Lee’s third world tour and “World Peace Initiative” movement, which brings international leaders and citizens to table talks for peace.

This week, Chairman Lee met with Ethiopian President Girma Wolde-Giorgis to discuss ways of strengthening ongoing efforts toward the reunification of the two Koreas. Chairman Lee stated that Ethiopia’s support is significant in the unification of the Korean nation. In return, President Wolde-Giorgis expressed Ethiopia’s continual interest in maintaining peace between North and South Korea.

Chairman Lee is confident that such discussions for peace amongst world leaders and their citizens will ignite international activism for peace. “He is someone who has been continuously working for world peace. He is the one whom everyone must meet at least once in their lifetime in order to achieve world peace,” said Kim Nam Hee, Chairwoman of Mannam Volunteer Association.

Last month, Lee spearheaded the World Peace Festival held at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea hosting 200,000 attendees from 200 countries under the banner of “World Peace, Light and Restoration.” Attendees of various religions participated alongside government officials from Ethiopia, Philippines and Timor-Liste. In addition to those physically present, over 1 million viewers joined over the airwaves and Internet as international press and media broadcast the festivities.

Chairman Lee’s Peace Conference, to be held on December 15 in Cape Town, will be open to the public.

Mannam is a front for the cult church Shinchonji. Mannam is a "nonprofit organization" because all their funding for their very expensive events comes directly from the church. Don't fall for this. If you don't believe me, do an online search for SCJ and Mannam.

As one who works in foreign relations and with peace organizations, I was pleased to find an uplifting article on peace building. The purpose seems clear in what the Chairman, Mr. Lee is trying to do; and to gather such an attendance is quite an amazing feat. When we held an event, it was quite a challenge to fill in a thousand seats. Whether, it's religious or not, the cause for peace is clear and much needed.

Thanks Michael Aronson, I took your advice and did some research on SCJ and Mannam. But all I could find is that It seems Mannam is doing a good cause and SCJ is supporting those good causes.. I even read a lot of questionable statements made against SCJ. I'm not religious myself but it's hard to believe the things said about SCJ are true. If this Man Lee is promoting peace and traveling around the word to spread it, I say that's a very respectable thing to do.

As a Korean myself I know that majority of Koreans hope for the unification of both North and South Korea.
It's very encouraging to see how a single man can achieve meeting with different presidents, be able to run a non-profit organization and also travel to so many different nations to make peace a reality. Keep up the good work. I want to see Korea united!

I've been working for a nonprofit peace organization for years and have never run across someone like Man Lee. Although I haven't had the chance to meet him in person yet, from the research that I've done on legitimate and unbiased websites, he seems to be a person who genuinely desires for world peace and is taking action to do that. Those who are in Cape Town have a lucky opportunity to hear from Man Lee in person.

It seems like this guy is the real deal. If we keep letting our religions put a wedge between us then we are going backwards in our goal to have world peace. I don't care what religion somebody is, if they do THIS much volunteer work, and help so many lives be a little bit better, then I think the're worth at least hearing out.

I wish that people would come onto a site like this just to say negative things. Mr. Lee is a man that is trying to achieve world people, and unkind can words do no good. As a MANNAM volunteer myself, I can personally testify to the great work that has been done, and the passion that Mr.Lee has as well as every member of MANNAM for achieving world peace.

Okay so right when I heard about this, I was so excited and I'm really anxious to see big things happen in Africa. I've actually been a volunteer at Mannam Volunteer Association for about 5 years now and there are so many great things about it! I love serving communities and being able to be a part of people's lives while making a positive change. I too had my suspicions about people from Shinchonji but after meeting them; I can't even believe how all these rumors came to be. People can lie all they want about something but T\these people show so much respect and genuine love to everyone, it's pretty sad how people really judge through rumors. We as people really need to get to know each other before making any judgments. Regardless of all this, I know that Mannam is always growing and I'm always up for helping the world become a better place!

before you go off calling someone or something a cult, please have some more consideration...and the right facts. mannam is an amazing volunteer organization that has helped so many different countries around the world. i'm not religious, but i've been a mannam member for years, and we've done so much great work. i'd appreciate it if people could just focus on the positives for once and not have to hate on everything good.

Maaan this is some cool stuff. I don't even read the news very often, but shoot... it's about time there's something about hope and peace out there. Other than the rare news reports like this, it's all about hatred, segregation and murder. For once, peace? It's pretty crazy that there are still people who have a problem with people who... do good? I haven't heard of these orgs, but if they do good, I gotta give them their props. I think today I'll try to be that peacemaker in my community too...
