Central African Republic: MINUSCA deplores the death of its five peacekeepers

Bangui, 8 August 2015 - A MINUSCA peacekeeper from the Rwandan contingent shot dead four of his colleagues in the early hours of Saturday 8 August 2015. Eight other peacekeepers were wounded during the shootings. The perpetrator also died.

MINUSCA opened an investigation regarding the circumstances of this tragic incident, the first of this magnitude since the establishment of the Mission in April 2014.

MINUSCA expresses its condolences to the Government of Rwanda and to the bereaved families and wishes early recovery to the injured peacekeepers currently under treatment at MINUSCA level 2 hospital in Bangui.
